We’re Kennie and Chris, a married couple from Illinois who somehow turned a little motorcycle riding into a whole lot of adventures.
It started with a Suzuki Boulevard that we rode together. Before long, Kennie bought himself a Yamaha V-Star 1300. Unfortunately, that very same day, Chris crashed her bike.
Getting back on two wheels wasn’t easy. Chris actually tried riding the Boulevard one more time after the crash. She made it about a mile before deciding, “NOPE! Not happening!”
For a while, she stuck to riding on the back of Kennie’s bike. Eventually, she bought a Can-Am Spyder to get comfortable being out on the road again. That’s also when the cameras came along. There wasn’t some grand plan to start a YouTube channel. Filming our rides just sounded like fun.
But Chris still missed riding her own motorcycle. After a whole lot of research, she finally decided to give two wheels another shot and bought a Yamaha MT-03.
For a while, our adventures were mostly day rides and overnight trips, often with a casino as the destination. Then Kennie got an idea. He wanted to ride the Tail of the Dragon.
That one idea turned into planning our first big motorcycle road trip, and suddenly we weren’t just riding around close to home anymore. We were heading hundreds of miles away, exploring unfamiliar roads, and documenting the whole experience.
And that’s how Cornfields to Canyons really began.
Oh, and one more thing. After getting comfortable riding her own motorcycle again, Chris has discovered that being a passenger is somehow even scarier now than it was before. Apparently, once you get used to being in control, giving it up isn’t so easy!
2007 Yamaha V-Star 1300 Tourer
Pretty enough to turn heads everywhere she goes, and reliable enough to never let us down. Starin has never had a mechanical issue and always starts right up. Her name? A little nod to Men in Black and all the people who can’t help but stare!
2026 Yamaha MT-03
Myrtle earned her nickname because she’s always bringing up the rear. (That’s more Chris than the bike!) Light, nimble, and comfortable, she’s the perfect fit. She may not look like a long-distance touring machine, but she’s tackled every adventure we’ve thrown at her without a single complaint!
2009 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic
Ursula is our beautiful blue Harley, a little different from the sea of black Harleys you usually see. She’s more of a showpiece than an everyday ride, spending most of her time tucked away in the trailer. But when there’s a bike show, a gathering, or other Harleys in the group, that’s when Ursula comes out to play!
2010 Cam-Am Spyder
Casper came along when Chris wasn’t quite ready to get back on two wheels. Our Can-Am Spyder gave her the confidence to ride on her own again without giving up the freedom of the open road. He helped bring the fun back to riding, and even though Myrtle eventually took over motorcycle duty, Casper still has a place in our garage and our story!
2012 Suzuki Boulevard
Gonzo is the Suzuki Boulevard that started it all! Our first motorcycle adventures began with the two of us riding together on him. He eventually passed down to our son, so while he’s no longer in our garage, he’s still in the family. And without Gonzo, there might never have been a Cornfields to Canyons!
We’re not professional riders or travel experts. We’re just a couple of ordinary people who love exploring new places on two wheels, taking the occasional wrong turn, and seeing where the road leads.
From the cornfields of Illinois to the mountains and beyond, we’re sharing the rides, the scenery, the mishaps, and everything in between.
Come along for the ride. There’s plenty more road ahead!
