The Adventure Continues

Our six-day motorcycle adventure through Wisconsin and Michigan begins in the familiar cornfields of central Illinois. We’ve got a lot of miles ahead of us, some incredible destinations on our itinerary, and two motorcycles ready for the journey.

Day 1 takes us approximately 300 miles from central Illinois to Watertown, Wisconsin, where we’ll spend our first night.

One of our planned stops for the day was Rock River Road near Dixon, Illinois. We’d heard it was a scenic ride along the Rock River, so we deliberately worked it into our route.

The catch? Getting there meant adding roughly 30 extra miles to an already long day.

We wanted to see whether this stretch of road lived up to what we’d heard about it. By the time we’d finished riding it, we definitely had some opinions! 😂

After our Rock River Road detour, we continued north toward Watertown, Wisconsin, bringing our first day on the road to a close.

But we’re just getting started. Over the next several days, our route will take us toward Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, Pictured Rocks, H-58, the Mackinac Bridge, and Tunnel of Trees.

We’re riding our Yamaha V-Star 1300 and Yamaha MT-03, exploring unfamiliar roads and sharing the experiences along the way.

Watch Day 1 and come along for the first 300 miles of our Michigan motorcycle adventure.

The Roads We Traveled

Noteworthy Roads:
• Rock River Road — Not what we would consider a great motorcycle road. It’s one of the nicest paved road we’ve encountered in Illinois. We’ll give it that. The view of the river was nice for a while. We could see riding it if you’re in the area but wouldn’t recommend going out of your way for the ride.
